Under 8/10 Blitz (16/08/14)

Under 10/8 Blitz 16th August 2014 - Hosted by Tramore Camogie Club

Report by Glen Jones

The Under 10 & Under 8 girls had the opportunity to display their developing skill on their home patch at the weekend. 11 girls togged out for the under 10s with twelve girls donning the club colours for the Under 8s. Overall there were close on 100 girls playing camogie in Riverstown and all enjoyed themselves immensely. The parents also enjoyed their morning cajoling and encouraging their charges.

Opposition on the day for the 10s saw the girls play Gaultier 1 & 2 as well as St Annes. Hayleigh Acheson and Jovanna Gajic displayed some very fine goal keeping skills with Sarah Byrne, Sinead Dunphy and Rachel Mooney showing strongly in defence. The midfielder rotated during the morning with all the girls getting a turn with Amy Hayden, Eimear Dunphy, Ellen Jones, Eoibheann Connor and Robyn Connor all preformed very well.

The most heartening element from the morning from the coaching perspective was the number of times the girls managed to raise the sliothar and strike from the hand. That along with a developing sense of where the space on the field exists shows that the girls are progressing. Keep up the good work.

There were three goals scored on the morning with Ellen netting twice and Robyn scoring the other. It was a fine return for the team skills on view.

The under 8s had games against Gaultier 1 & 2, Clonea and St Annes. All the girls had great fun competing and the squeals of delight when the goals were scored brought smiles to all who were there to witness.

For all the girls, training is each Wednesday from 6 to 7pm. All are welcome.  We are taking a break for the next two weeks and will resume training on Wednesday the 3rd of September. See you all then.
