The Under 14 girls notched up another impressive win on Tuesday night last the 6th of May. This win against Roanmore/ Ferrybank makes it 2 from 3 for the championship with the final match to be played next Tuesday against Lismore.
Eighteen girls travelled to Ferrybank for the match, and the ladies continue from where they left off against Portlaw last day out. From the start, the midfield and both lines either side displayed steely determination to ensure that the defence had a very quiet night out. The first half was played in heavy showers which didn't help the flow of the game, but Tramore were well on top and after 15minutes the scoring commenced with a well taken goal by Sally Kelly. This was added to shortly afterwards with an accurate strike finding the back of the net from Clara Griffin.
The full forward line of Emma Barry, Loren King and Chloe Kinsella were getting lots of opportunities for scores and Loren found the back of the net as the half closed.
The second half followed a similar pattern with Sally and Clara added a point each. Clara's point was of note as she was stripped of her hurl 20 yards out but still had the presence of mind to hand pass a very well executed point. Sally was proving a plentifully supply of ball to the inside forwards and on 2 separate occasions managed to hit the woodwork.
Two further goals were score and well taken by Loren and the newly introduced Shannon Barry. Both of these girls are new to the under 14 set up this year and their hard work was rewarded with their contribution on the evening.
The final result was 5-03 to no score
Watching these matches is indeed a privilege as the skills on view and the manner of the girls application leave you in no doubt that it's a evening well spent. The final match is at home next Tuesday (13th of May) where a win would open up further opportunities to this team. Come along and give them your support.
Training is each Thursday from 8 to 9pm. All are welcome.
