Saturday of the bank holiday saw the Tramore girls travel to Ferrybank for their final blitz before the commencement of their championship season of 2014.
There were six teams in attendance made up of Clonea, Abbeyside, Brickey Rangers, Portlaw, Ferrybank and Tramore. Our ladies played four matches against these teams with Ferrybank losing out on the opportunity to test their skills against our beach-siders.
We had fourteen girls attending today and they performed admirably especially considering that three of them were involved in a very late sleep over the night before. ( you know who you are!!)
The blitz opened with a closely contested match against Portlaw. The fact that the Tramore Under 12's hadn't played a match for a number of weeks was evident as it took them a couple of matches to find their rhythm. (One Direction has a lot to answer for!!)
The second match saw the girls draw against Abbeyside with strong performances from Clodagh, Ceri, Flora Natasha and Alannah. Sarah and Aoife showed some fine touches and the whole squad performed very well in the glorious sunshine.
Brickey's were next up in a closely fought match. Despite some fine goalkeeping from Bella, the Bricky girls ended up winning by two goals.
Ciara, Erin, Sinead and Shannon performed very well during this and the following games with Ruth and Sarah also showing great ground hurling skills.
The final match against Clonea saw the girls perform very well with some very fine lifting and hitting from all the team. Tramore ran out winners with a couple of fine goals from Flora, Aoife and Eirn.
The girls seems to realise as the morning went on, that better results were evident once they stopped trying to "kill" ever sliothar they hit. As they measured their intensity, the outcomes were much better. Great credit to them all as they realised this and put it into practice.
Onwards and upward for the team now as them embark on their championship season.
Training is Wednesday evenings from 6-7pm.
