The Under 12 girls continued their season on Saturday last with a trip to Roanmore to take part in their second blitz. Tramore had a great turnout of 15 girls, and over the course of their five matches on the morning, they all got a good run to display their skills.
The other teams in attendance were Butlerstown, Abbeyside, De la Salle, Roamore and Ferrybank.
The game against Butlerstown was a scoreless draw and the Tramore team did very well against a very strong opposition. The defensive and harrying work all over the field is becoming a very encouraging feature of the team.
The second match was against Abbeyside who managed to come out two goals to one winners. Again the resolute defensive effort was very effective with a few lapses leading to the opposition scores. As the match wore on, the Tramore girls did come back into their own and managed to exert their collective skills on the game.
The third match against Roanmore was secured by a top quality point by Flora and the penultimate game saw the girls take on De la Salle. A fine win was recorded against this A side with a fabulously taken goal by Rachel O'Connor and a point by big hitting Flora. Again the harrying and pressure put on the De la Salle side was a credit to the Tramore team spirit.
The final match saw the girls record a comfortable win against a young Ferrybank side.
All in all a very enjoyable morning of camogie and the girls have demonstrated an improved skill set from the early season training. As always there's room for improvement, but given the attitude of this bunch of girls, there is no doubt that they will continue to improve over the season.
Training is each Wednesday from 6 to 7pm. All are welcome.
