On an unusual damp evening in Tramore, Tramore U-16’s took on the visitors An Rinn. Due to holidays and injuries, Tramore had a turnout of 16 players but still fancied their chances. Exchanges were tough and tight early on and after 8 minutes, Saoirse O’Brien broke the deadlock with a great solo goal. An Rinn replied in kind shortly after but again, Tramore responded in style with another fantastic goal from Saoirse. An Rinn dug deep for the remaining 10 minutes and added two further goals to lead at half time by 4-0 to 2-0
Tramore started with renewed vigour in the 2nd half and Saoirse O’Brien goaled twice more to bring the teams level. Stalemate then ensued before An Rinn goaled again and pointed from a free to lead, a lead they would not relinquish.
Tramore battled hard to the end and there was great skill and effort on display from both sides. Shannon Acheson goaled to reduce the arrears to a point but try as we could, the leveller eluded us and An Rinn went on to score 2 more goals to win the game on a scoreline of 7-1 to 5-0
Despite the loss, the standard of play was high and all the effort in training is paying off. The squad is still confident of finishing the season on a high note. Our next game is against Clonea, details will follow. Training every Wednesday evening, all welcome.
